Bright-Eyed

On Tuesday Gerson and I were able to visit Jayden again in Indy. We were pleasantly surprised to find him bright-eyed and happy. He followed us with his eyes. It was really the first time in a long time we have seen him alert.
He loves his pacifier, but he isn't able to keep it in his mouth. He spits it out if someone isn't holding it in, and then he gets mad!
He doesn't look very comfortable in this picture, but he was quite relaxed and every time I tried to put him in a better position, he shifted!!!
Daddy really enjoyed speaking to his son and having his son look at him and act like he understood!
Jayden look so much better and is acting more like a baby now. He moves a lot and interacts with us more. He still needs a lot of prayer. He continues to be fed through a tube to his intestine. He's up to 7 ml/hour and needs to get to 15 ml/hour. Please pray that he is able to digest this new formula. His speech therapist saw him today and said he is not ready to feed out of a bottle. So, continue to pray. Thanks.

Sledding and Such

We are enjoying new experiences here in the States. We were amazed by the LARGE Christmas tree in the lobby of the hospital. Gerson wanted his picture taken in front of it.

I was going to do a post on our sledding adventure today, but Gerson accidently did a post on this blog instead of his Spanish blog (betsyygerson.blogspot.com). So instead of doing it all over, look over the pictures in the post below this one. I was a wimp and didn't sled --- too cold. But, Gerson really enjoyed sledding with my cousin's kids.

Jayden continues to be about the same. He is back on the nasal cannula, but at a higher flow. His nurse Erin told me that he was "unhappy" with the other type of breathing tube. When I talked to the doctor a little bit later, I asked if by being unhappy they meant that Jayden was trying to pull the tube out. Sure enough ---- he had been clawing at his tube. So, they decided to put him back on the cannula. So far, so good. Please keep praying.

Guess that's all the news for now. Enjoy the Spanish sledding post!
