Happy Mother's Day!

To all you mothers out there --- I hope you had a marvelous Mother's Day!

When I realized last week that Mother's Day was around the corner, I immediately thought of MY mom. It was only when someone said to me, "You're a mom now, too" that I realized that this was MY FIRST Mother's Day as a mommy! How exciting!
My two men didn't disappoint. They wanted to be sure it was a special day for me.
They bought me a hammock! I can't BEGIN to describe how exciting it is to have it! We left our hammocks in Bolivia, and just last week Gerson and I were sad that we didn't have one to put up here on the beautiful property where we live. He happened upon this one at the WGM garage sale!!! Now we can put it up and enjoy the great outdoors in style! Jayden is going to learn at an early age how wonderful it is to rest in one.:)

New People, New Experiences

Do you see something wrong with this picture? Let me give you a clue . . .
Yup, instead of being too big for his britches, he's too little for his shoes! Daddy bought Jayden a pair of tennis shoes (or sneakers, depending on where you're from!) at a garage sale, and he was anxious to see Jayden wear them. He's got a little growing to do!
Last weekend we took a short road trip to see my Grandpa Bennett. He's in a nursing home and he hadn't met Jayden yet. He also hadn't seen Gerson since January of 2008. We knew it was time to make the trip so Grandpa could meet his great-grandson.
My sis Jamie went with us. It was wonderful for Aunt Jamie and Jayden to do some bonding. Thanks, Jamie, for all your help with Jayden! You gave Mommy a break!
We also saw some relatives on my mom's side of the family --- the Yeley clan. This is my cousin John Matthew holding Jayden. He "scrubbed in" to hold him. When I told him he had to wash his hands before picking Jayden up, he went to the bathroom and came back with soap suds up to his elbows!!! He's a funny one! John is one of my two cousins who is about my age.
This is another one of my cousins, Debbie Sue.
Debbie's parents, my aunt and uncle, Maurice and Joan, also took time to love on Jayden. He just kept getting passed around!
And this is Victoria, Debbie's daughter, also holding Jayden. He got lots of lovin'! It was great to see everyone!
