Thanks for following Jayden's journey. You've read what he's been through, but since Gerson was in Bolivia while most of this happened, I wasn't able to publish the photos. Now that he's back (Hooray!), I have access to our computer again. This foto was taken just a few days after Gerson left. Jayden was having breathing difficulties from aspirating some of his milk into his lungs. He had to "wear" this huge tubing for quite awhile. I hated seeing him like that, but I knew it was what he needed.
Jayden finally "graduated" to the nasal cannula. He still wasn't too happy about having something stuck into his nose!! He continues to be on the cannula is receiving from 25%-35% oxygen. The doctor now thinks he is developing chronic lung disease. Please pray that God will heal his lungs. He has had several scary "episodes" over the last few days that have involved a very dangerous drop in both heart rate and oxygen saturation. Please pray the doctors can figure out what is causing these and how to help him.
While Gerson was gone, Jayden also had to several blood transfusions. The nurses had had to take so many blood samples from him, they had a hard time finding a vein in which to put the IV for the transfusions. They ended up having to put the IV in his head. That was another hard thing for Mommy to see.
Jayden loves his pacifier!!! It calms him when he's upset,. He has his sucking reflex down!!
Jayden has also "graduated" to a "big boy" bed!! He is now officially out of the incubator and in a crib. He is maintaining his body temperature very well. We are thankful for that!
He is getting lots of loving from Mommy . . .
and Daddy!!! Daddy was glad to his little guy, and Jayden was thrilled to be back in Daddy's arms. When Gerson saw Jayden for the first time after he returned, he couldn't believe how much he had grown. Last time we asked, which was several days ago, Jayden weighed 4 pounds 2 ounces!! That's another thing for which we are thankful. Please continue to pray for Jayden and his doctors and nurses. Each day is a new, and sometimes scary, adventure.
