Mittens - But Not For the Cold!

Hello, again! How are all of you doing? I'm staying nice and warm in my room. Although yesterday was a beautiful day, one of my nurses told me I wasn't ready to go out yet. One of thse days I'll feel the sun on my skin. In the meantime, I'm going to concentrate on getting better! Mommy and Daddy are ready to take me home, and I've overheard the nurses tell them that they may have to start checking their bags on their way out to make sure they aren't taking me with them!
I AM ready to go home, though. The doctors are finally getting the hint. I've tried to be sneaky and drop hints, but only this week did they pick up on my subtle hints. You see, one night this week I decided I was tired of being fed in my intestines, so I pulled that tube right out! When my nurse came to check on me, I was holding the tube triumphantly in my hand!

The doctor decided (FINALLY) that I was trying to tell him something, so instead of putting the tube back into my intestine, he decided to have the tube put into my stomach. That's a step in the right direction!

After that, the nurse decided to cover my little fingers with socks, which is why I look like I have mittens on. I have to admit, it was a good idea. I was unable to get a good grasp on ANYTHING! So, my tube still remains. However, tomorrow, the Lord willing, they are going to let me try drinking milk from a bottle!! I'm so excited! Please pray that body is ready for that new experience.

I am also still doing very well with my breathing. Today they turned down my airflow to 2 liters. So far, so good. Thanks for praying that I continue to breathe better and that I can go home without any of these tubes and cables! I'll be excited when I don't have to be connected to so many machines!
Remember my picture from when I was just a few weeks old? My head was as small as this little soccer ball. As you can see, I'm growing! Now the ball is the perfect size for my still-tiny feet. If only I could play!! Daddy enjoys putting the ball at my feet an letting me "kick" it. I think he thinks it's funny! I'm looking forward to growing more and playing soccer with him.
