Welcome Edison Tejeda!

On March 9, 2011 at 10:00 AM, Gerson drove me to Edingburg, Texas to check into the hospital to prepare for the birth of our second son.

We wanted our baby to be born in McAllen, since that is where we live. However, my doctor uses the Women's Hospital at Renaissance to deliver his patients' babies, and it's located in Edinburg. The funny thing is that the city limit/line between the two cities is the very street where the hospital sits. The hospital just is on the Edinburg side! If had been on the other side of the street, our son would have been born in McAllen!

Here I am in all my pregnant glory! Although I didn't swell as badly as I did with Jayden, I was still quite swollen by the day of my scheduled delivery --- especially in my face, hands, and feet.
I was ready to deliver!

Of course, I chose my hubby, Gerson, to be the person in the operating room with me. Since I had a C-Section, I could only have one person. He had to put on these special clothes to enter the OR with me. He kept me entertained, modeling his "cool" outfit, while we waited to go into surgery. I was glad he kept me smiling!

At a little after 1:30 PM, Edson Jaaziel Tejeda entered the world! He had a hefty set of lungs and let us all know he was NOT happy to be disturbed. I got a quick peek at him before they whisked him off to the nursery, with Daddy following closely behind with the camera. Soon Edson was bathed and wrapped snuggly up in a blanket.

I was so blessed that my parents came to Texas from Illinois to share the momentous event with us. Dad did a lot of babysitting of Jayden while I was in the hospital, and Mom spent most of her time with me while I recovered. Gerson went back and forth between the hospital and home, keeping the home fires burning and juggling different misson (work) responsibilities at the same time.

Here's the proud Daddy with his newborn son!

We were so thankful the pregnancy went so much better than my first one. I found that I recovered more quickly and was up and about the hospital the next day.

And what about big brother, Jayden? He came to the hospital to visit his mommy and the new baby. He quickly fell in love with his brother and became very possessive of the little guy. Once the nurse from the nursery came to take Edson for a check-up and Jayden got very upset with her. We had to explain that the nurse would bring the baby back. We are thankful Jayden is a great big brother!
