Hi everyone. I'm sure many of you are wondering how the doctor appointment went yesterday. I have GREAT NEWS!!!! The Lord is answering prayer!
I had a doctor appointment with an OB doctor who works in the same office as my friend, Liz. This doctor sees patients, but he is also a teacher for the resident students. That means he's up on the current research and knows his stuff. He doesn't normally have office hours on Thursdays but he made an exception for me. He spent an hour with me, reviewing my history, answering questions, and examining me. He was very thorough and I really felt he took the time to review my "case."
Basically, at the end of reviewing everything, his conclusion is that I'm not in danger at this point in going into preterm labor. He also says that instead of considering me pre-eclampsic, for now he is considering me to have hypertension brought on by pregnancy. He gave me permission to be off bed rest (Hallelujah!) and I am able to be up and about some, although I am still without much energy. He did a few blood test on me that hadn't been done in Bolivia that are routine here for a pregnant woman. I have an appointment for an ultrasound next Thursday. So, that's where we are at this point.
I am praising the Lord! My blood pressure in the doctor's office was 120/74, which is GREAT. I had no swelling and he said my protein levels are not high enough to worry about yet. He will be watching me and taking into consideration that I may develop pre-eclampsia down the road, but he's pretty positive and hopeful that all will go well and that I will be able to carry the baby to term. PRAISE THE LORD!
Thanks for your many prayers. Please lift Gerson to the throne as he awaits a date for his interview. We would really like him to be here for the ultrasound on the Thursday, but it would take an act of God --- who we know is all-powerful. My mom really wants him to be here before she leaves next weekend, so please pray the Embassy will get him in for an interview SOON and that all the paperwork will be processed quickly and filled out correctly.
God is good! Thanks for supporting us through this hard time. We appreciate each and every one of you. It's been an amazing testimony to us about the love we share as the Body of Christ as well as the power of prayer. Keep on praying!

Doctor's Appointment and Paperwork
It's time for another update, though this one should be shorter. Once again, thanks to everyone who is praying. Both Gerson and I feel the amazing support and love. We are truly blessed.
I am doing fine as is Baby Tejeda. He's a mover and a shaker! I am having some stomachaches, but they are different from contracions. We are all thinking that I have some problems with foods, so I am on a pretty strict bland diet. Last night I was up part of the night with a stomachache, but I woke up this morning feeling much better and my blood pressure was very good.
Tomorrow I will be going to see the OB doctor. I have all my lab work and medical history from Bolivia that I will be taking with me. Pray for wisdom as the doctor examines me and tries to figure out what is the best course of action for the next few months. Today is week 25, and we are so thankful for another week of him staying inside of me!
Gerson continues with paperwork. He has it all in hand but today is a holiday in Santa Cruz, so he can't mail it out until tomorrow. Pray the Embassy with process it quickly and that he will have an interview next week and be inssued a visa immediately. Also pray for the travel plans to come together for him.
His family spent yesterday at our apartment packing up our things. When we spoke by phone last night, he said they would be back today to continue on with the process. I'm glad he has family surrounding him and helping him! He also told me he was going over to some of our missionary friends' house to play games last night. Thanks, James and Jenny, for taking care of my hubby and giving him a great distraction with Settlers of Catan! Can't wait to hear how it went.

Back Home In Indiana
Hello Friends.
The title might have gotten your attention. I'm sorry there hasn't been an update in so long. It's amazing how rapidly things can change. Last week I returned to the doctor after a few days of bedrest. Much to our dismay, the doctor's visit resulted in my being readmitted to the hospital for high blood blood pressure and chest pains. It was a long couple of days with testing and difficult nights. I was released on Friday to go home with instructions to remain in bed until the tests results were all in.
On Friday night Bonnie Gouge, our field director's wife, was able to pick up my results and they weren't favorable. My protein levels were really high and pointed toward pre-eclampsia, which is what the doctor had been suspecting. Due to all the complicatations I had been experiencing with the pregnancy, Ron and Bonnie Gouge talked with Gerson and me on Fridayafternoon about my returning to Indiana to be close medical facilities in case Baby Tejeda decided to make an early appearance. I was at 24 weeks, and if the baby were born in Bolivia at that time, he would not survive. We knew the chances for survival would be much better in Indianapolis where there is great neo-natal care.
After consulting with our doctor, as well as several others both in the States and in Bolivia, as well as with my family, Gerson and I had to make a tough a decison. Gerson's visa paperwork was not done, so I would be traveling without him. However, due to the urgency of the situation and for the welfare of our baby, we decided that I should indeed return to Indiana without him.
The Lord worked miracles and we were able to book 2 first-class tickets for Bonnie Gouge and I for Saturday morning. That left me about 6 hours of daytime to process what was happening, pack, and say goodbye to Bolivia where I have lived the last the 5 years. It was not easy. Thre were many tears!!!!!!! My sister-in-law packed my suitcases while I tried to finish filling out Gerson's visa paperwork to leave with him.
On Saturday morning I had to leave my hubby in Bolivia. It was heartbreaking. I ask all of you to pray for him as he awaits to hear from the Embassy to go for his final interview. Pray for God to work a miracle for him as well and that a visa will be issued within a week so he can join me. Both of us are having a hard time being apart and not knowing when he will be joining me. As you can imagine, he's quite concerned not to be with me and the baby at this time due to the medical concerns. Please, PRAY, PRAY, PRAY.
Riding in first class helped me be more comfortable, but I did begin having some light contractions in Charlotte. We decided to continue on, though, as the flight from there was only an hour to get to Indy. My sister Jamie picked Bonnie and me up on Saturday night and we stayed in a hotel for 2 days while I waited for my doctor friend, Liz (Diller) Roth, to arrive home from Houston. My mom flew up from Tallahassee yesterday and we have been staying with Liz and her husband Trent, who is also a doctor. I'm in good hands!
Last night was the first night I was able to sleep without any kind of pain! Praise the Lord! We have a doctor's appointment for Thursday morning at 9:00 with an OB who works in the same office as Liz. We will see what he has to say. Please be in prayer.
Both the baby and I are stable right now. My blood pressue is staying down and the baby is moving a lot. We know people are praying and we are feeling the support of the Body of Christ. Please continue to pray as emotionally and physically the last few weeks have been draining. Through it all, God has been sooooo good and faithful.
Since I am on bedrest until I see the doctor, Liz has provided this laptop for me to use so I will be able to hopefully be more available to update you and respond to comments. I love you all and now that I'm Stateside, I'm sure I'll be seeing many of you in the weeks to come! :) That makes me happy!
